Seth Thomas, however, always responded to their new designs and materials, by coming out with his own creations, and usually a better product. Imagine the competitors reaction when they had more costly clocks while Seth Thomas literally duplicated their models at a much lower price.

Over the following decades, there were many trends set in clock making such as naming a certain clock model after an international city. Seth Thomas did this and even added his own flair by naming many clocks after American cities. He even named some after American presidents and universities.
